Message from the Chair- 2014

On behalf of the entire Executive Board, welcome to the Technology & Innovation Management (TIM) Division! We are a friendly, interactive division 33 years strong composed of over 2,700 members, of which 55% are international and 45% are U.S.-based members. Our division is composed of a wide range of members from different backgrounds, including 67.44% academic members, 24.36% student members, 7.12% executive members, and 1.08% emeritus members. Our members are most likely to also be members of Business Policy and Strategy, Entrepreneurship, and/or the Organization and Management Theory Divisions. Our primary sponsor is the Kauffman Foundation. Our business meeting and social are highly attended, and many say we have the best social at the Academy of Management meeting! We have requested a bigger room for next year!Welsch

We have a newly re-designed, interactive website with a new division logo! New features include a split page format with quick access side bar, easier integration of graphics, page-by-page display of newsletters and search capability. We are looking to upgrade modules available. Do you have any ideas? Email our webmaster, BJ Zirger at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Also, if you are interested in being our webmaster for 2015-2016, please contact BJ for more details. BJ, thanks for the great work!

Please be sure and join our listserv so you get all the news! You have to join this yourself. We want to be the most engaged, participative division and we can’t be that without your help. We have 8 Representatives-at-Large and it will go to 10 next year to increase our member involvement. I have formed a Membership Task Force with the purpose of increasing and engaging our membership. So far, ten members have volunteered from new doctoral students to emeritus members. If you are interested in joining us, please send me an email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or give me a call at 336-256-8507. We also have a TIM newsletter that goes out four times a year. If you are interested in writing an article that would be of interest to our membership, please contact me or our new newsletter editor, Suchitra Veera at This email address is being protected from spambots. We look forward to seeing you at the Vancouver, British Columbia, meeting to be held August 7-11, 2015. The theme for next year’s conference is Governance, which has unlimited possibilities as a topic for the TIM Division. Be thinking now of clever titles for your paper or workshop. Feel free to contact me or any of the executive board at any time with your ideas and suggestions. Have a great year!
